Industries Served

Since 1948, ESPE Manufacturing Co., Inc. has provided electrical insulation materials, fabricated plastic parts, and custom non-metallic components for manufacturers across the USA. From its 30,000-square-foot facility, ESPE supports applications ranging from prototype development to high-volume production, using processes such as laser cutting, stamping, die cutting, digital cutting, CNC machining, slitting, and shearing.

ESPE works with materials including Formex®, Nomex®, fishpaper, vulcanized fiber, and a wide selection of plastics and specialty materials. These capabilities allow us to source components according to their application, material, dimensional, and electrical insulation requirements. ESPE’s custom part fabrication services can produce washers, gaskets, insulators, spacers, bushings, arc chutes, brush plate holders, and other components.

Our capabilities extend beyond individual fabrication processes. We can help customers select an appropriate material and production method based on the part’s intended use, geometry, thickness, and production requirements. This combination of material knowledge and fabrication experience supports manufacturers that need consistent components for electrical and mechanical assemblies.

Computers

Computers, peripherals, and related electronic equipment require components that provide reliable electrical insulation while fitting within compact assemblies. ESPE manufactures non-metallic parts for these applications using materials selected for their electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties.

Formex®, Nomex®, fishpaper, and other insulating materials can be fabricated into barriers, insulators, washers, spacers, and other custom components. Our laser cutting and stamping capabilities allow manufacturers to produce detailed parts in prototype, low-volume, and high-volume quantities.

For computer and electronic applications, our custom part fabrication services provide manufacturers with options for producing components to specific drawings and requirements. We also maintain a broad inventory of electrical insulation materials, supporting efficient material selection and production.

Medical Equipment

Medical equipment manufacturers depend on accurately fabricated components that can meet specific design requirements. ESPE provides fabricated non-metallic parts for medical equipment and medical device applications, including components produced through laser cutting, stamping, die cutting, and CNC machining.

Laser cutting is particularly useful for detailed non-metal parts and intricate designs. ESPE uses dual-axis cutting heads and can process materials in thicknesses from 0.003″ to 0.75″, with parts up to 48″ by 96″. These capabilities support the production of precise components for a range of medical applications.

We also offer custom part fabrication services for manufacturers that need repeatable components in different production quantities. Material options include Formex®, Nomex®, fishpaper, and numerous plastics and specialty materials.

Automotive

Automotive manufacturers use electrical insulation and non-metallic components throughout vehicle electrical and mechanical systems. ESPE produces fabricated parts from materials such as vulcanized fiber, fishpaper, Nomex®, Formex®, and other polymers.

Fishpaper is particularly useful for applications that require a lightweight material with good physical strength and resistance to temperature changes. Applications  for fishpaper and vulcanized fiber include automotive components, gaskets, washers, bushings, and electrical insulation.

Manufacturers can also use our precision stamping services for repeatable production of small components. Our stamping department uses presses rated up to 40 tons and can produce parts from strip and coil stock ranging from 0.005″ to 0.250″ thick.

Power Supply

Power supplies require effective electrical insulation and barriers to separate conductive components and support safe, reliable operation. ESPE serves conventional and uninterruptible power supply manufacturers with fabricated insulation components and non-metallic parts.

Materials such as Formex®, Nomex®, phenolic, and fishpaper can be fabricated into custom shapes according to application requirements. ESPE’s capabilities include laser cutting, die cutting, stamping, digital cutting, and machining, giving manufacturers multiple options for producing insulation components.

For detailed insulation parts, laser cut services can provide accurate profiles without requiring dedicated tooling for every design. Our laser cutting capabilities are suitable for intricate shapes in plastics, fishpaper, vulcanized fiber, and other non-metal materials.

Electrical

Electrical and power distribution equipment requires insulating materials that can withstand the physical, electrical, and environmental demands of the application. ESPE specializes in fabricating electrical insulation parts from materials selected for properties such as dielectric strength, mechanical strength, temperature resistance, and electrical impedance.

We manufacture products such as insulators, washers, gaskets, bushings, spacers, arc chutes, slot insulators, and other custom components. Fishpaper is one of our established materials, offering lightweight construction, physical strength, and resistance to hot and cold conditions.

For applications requiring intricate profiles, fishpaper insulator laser cutting can produce detailed components according to customer drawings. ESPE also provides precision stamping services for electrical insulation and barrier materials, including Formex®, Statex®, Nomex®, fishpaper, and vulcanized fiber.

ESPE’s fabrication methods can also be selected according to production volume and part geometry. Laser cutting can accommodate detailed profiles and development work, while stamping and die cutting can provide efficient production for repeat orders. This gives electrical equipment manufacturers flexibility as a component moves from an initial design into ongoing production.

Other Industries (Consumer Products, Lighting)

ESPE also supports consumer product and lighting manufacturers with electrical insulation and fabricated non-metallic components. Formex®, for example, is used in applications including LED lighting, appliances, electronics, and other products requiring flame-retardant insulation.

Consumer products may require components such as washers, gaskets, barriers, spacers, and custom insulators. ESPE’s laser cut services can produce intricate shapes for new designs, while stamping and die cutting can support repeat production.

Beyond consumer products and lighting, we serve industries including aerospace, agricultural, architectural, dental equipment, food, machine tools, marine, military and defense, oil field, packaging and converting, and renewable energy.

Quality Assurance

Quality is incorporated throughout ESPE’s manufacturing processes. We perform visual, manual, initial, in-process, and final inspections for fabricated components, with production available from prototypes and low-volume runs through high-volume manufacturing.

ESPE maintains documented capabilities for working to customer specifications and offers multiple fabrication methods to match material, design, production volume, and tolerance requirements. Its manufacturing processes include laser cutting, stamping, die cutting, machining, slitting, and shearing.

Inspection and production controls help ensure that parts remain consistent from initial production through repeat orders. ESPE’s experience with electrical insulation materials also allows us to consider the material characteristics alongside the dimensional requirements of the finished part.

With decades of experience in electrical insulation and non-metallic fabrication, ESPE provides manufacturers with a practical source for both standard materials and custom components.
